Synopsis
Fifty year old Ruža moved to Switzerland in her youth hopeful of new and better life. Today, after fifty years she is left with only one passion - money. Ruža is the owner of a canteen in Zurich, which she runs financially successfully with iron fist. Her life seems to be a carefully planned routine: working in the canteen, counting daily turnover and dining at eight in a little flat in Zurich. Ruža has built her life and she does not think of returning to her homeland, Serbia. Mila, who is 60 and long time Ruža’s employee has different views. She has lived in Switzerland for a few decades now with her husband and son and she has worked hard to fulfill her dream – a house in her homeland, Croatia.

Directors Biography
Andrea Štaka was born in Switzerland in 1973. She graduated and took her master degree from the School of Visual Arts in Zurich. Her earlier films, such as 'Hotel Belgrad' and 'Yugodivas', were successfully screened at numerous international festivals winning a few awards. Both films were nominated for the best Swiss film and were distributed in theatres. In 2005 Andrea Štaka won the NYSCA scholarship. ' Das Fräulein' is her first feature film. She lives in Zurich and New York.
